WALK A BLOCK 2009

$14,000.00 and climbing for Walk-A-Block 2009 in Saskatchewan!

At our last AGM the board of directors decided to make Walk-A-Block a priority within our fund raising efforts and as you can see they were serious.

MLA Don Morgan, Alayna Schmidt and Lloyd Driedger

With Alayna Schmidt's and her family's consent (and full support) Alayna's face became the face on our poster asking people to support our cause. L.E.S.S. would like to thank the Schmidt family and especially Alayna for their huge contribution.

Across the province people worked hard to make 2009 the year to beat:

In Moose Jaw, Chantelle Cushway filled in for Marianne who was very ill. Chantelle also organized pre-WAB fundraising included a hotdog/hamburger sale at Sobey's, a food order/delivery day with Mom's Pantry, and a Recycling Club project from her son Dalton, at St. Margaret's School French Immersion. The Moose Jaw WAB was held Saturday, May 9, in Crescent Park. Over 25 supporters turned out, including Moose Jaw North MLA Warren Michelson. Total profit was over $2900.00. I suspect Chantelle enjoyed herself since she has agreed to remain our Moose Jaw area contact. Way to go Chantelle and welcome!

Derril Rogerson, father of Past President Colleen Prosser, walked in Leask to show his support of the WAB fundraisers, as he has in past years.

In Saskatoon, Judy Nagus led the province in funds raised (over $6,000.00) and Irene Driedger arranged to have the Honorable Don Morgan, Minister of Justice for the province of Saskatchewan speak to the crowd on May 10, 2009 in downtown Saskatoon as they assembled for one of the scheduled walks.

Other walks were held in various parts of our province and our heartfelt thanks go out to all.

May 10, 2009 was a beautiful day in Saskatchewan, and while there was some question as to having our major walk on Mothers Day, we are extremely pleased with the results and would like to say, Thank you Saskatchewan.
